Hi Folks,
We have a
veritable post-Christmas feast of carbon-related news this month, though
hopefully no turkeys...
1) CCS in CDM Montreal
As was agreed
in Montreal, Government submissions are now being sought on the consideration
of carbon dioxide capture and storage as clean development mechanism project
activities, taking into account issues relating to project boundary, leakage
and permanence. The deadline for these submissions is 13 February 2006. A
workshop will be held in May 2006 in Bonn at SB24.

Review on the Economics of Climate Change
The
Chancellor announced on 19 July 2005 that he had asked Sir Nick Stern to lead a
major review of the economics of climate change, to understand more
comprehensively the nature of the economic challenges and how they can be met,
in the UK and globally.
The review
will be taken forward jointly by the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury, and will
report to the Prime Minister and Chancellor by Autumn 2006. It takes place
within the context of existing national and international climate change
