CCS Research
There are still only a few providers of research in the UK.
The members of this University consortium UKCCSC represent the main interests in UK Universities.
Additionally the British Geological Survey, in Keyworth, has the largest and longest established group, who can undertake contract work.
The Scottish Centre for Carbon Storage is the largest single University group of subsurface geoscientists and geo-engineers working on CCS.
In the European Union, there are numerous projects examining different aspects of CCS - into aquifers or with Enhanced Oil Recovery. It seems very probabale that some full-sized power plant with CCS will be operating in Europe by 2012. A suite of diagrams illustrating the diverse projects are on the pages EU and world CCS research diagrams 2006.
The UK Energy Research centre has compiled a listing of UK- based research in CCS. The UKERC Atlas November 06 version can be downloaded. A live version is at UKERC Energy Atlas
